The sounds of the season will be ringing through the Marshall Public Library this month.
The Marshall Public Library will be hosting two holiday-themed performances as part of the library’s “Music in the Library” series. The first will feature the Adamo String Quartet performing traditional and classic Christmas meldodies Saturday, December 7 at noon. The Adamo String Quartet features Pocatello High School and Century High School students Collin Hyde, Joseph Morrissey, Samuel Sterner, and Elsa Ferrin. The group’s members also participate in their respective schools’ orchestras and the Idaho State Civic Symphony Youth Orchestra.
“The library has a lot of happy memories for us,” said Collin Hyde. “We wanted to share something we really love doing — making music.”
Meanwhile, a quintet of Snake River New Horizons Band members will be performing holiday classics, carols, and other favorites Saturday, December 21 at 1 p.m. The group is Catherine Read on flute, Angela Luckey on the clarinet, Raylene Houck on oboe, Elizabeth Dyer on french horn, and Marlin Brunkow will be trading his trombone for a bassoon.
“We all enjoy playing together, but we hope that these familiar Christmas carols will move people at the library to join us and sing along,” said Elizabeth Dyer. “Don’t just listen – help us make a joyful noise for the holidays.”
Both performances will be held on the first floor of the library.
“Music is a big part of the holiday season and we’re pleased to bring live performances from two talented groups to our library patrons,” said Amy Campell, Public Services Supervisor.
