Today, December 23, 2019, President Donald J. Trump announced his intent to nominate two individuals to the United States District Courts. The President stated his intent to nominate John Leonard Badalamenti of Florida, to serve as Judge on the United States District Court for the Middle District of Florida, and Stephen P. McGlynn of Illinois, to serve as Judge on the United States District Court for the Southern District of Illinois.
As of last Friday, December 20, Trump-nominated judges have been confirmed to a substantial number of Article III judgeships. These include two Supreme Court justices (22%), 50 judges to the U.S. Court of Appeals (28%) and 133 judges to the United States District Courts (20%). Such judges typically serve for life.
