My World Discovery Museum is having their largest fundraiser of the year, ‘A Day At Hogwarts’ at the Veterans Memorial Building on January 24 and 25. The character breakfast and VIP tickets have sold out, but you can still get tickets for the Hogwarts Student Experience and General Admission. Tickets must be purchased in advance.
According to their Facebook page, “My World Discovery Museum is a non-profit group working toward the goal of building and maintaining a hands-on children’s museum in the Pocatello, Idaho area.
The idea came from co-founders Melody Daniels and Natali McKee. As they sat talking one day, in January 2018, they both expressed a desire for there to be a children’s museum in Pocatello, both to take their own children to and to entertain friends and family coming into town. Within a few short weeks Melody and Natali were looking at potential venues and being interviewed by the local news.
In the last year things have moved pretty quickly, a Board of Directors has been established, non-profit status approved, multiple potential venues have been toured, a number of fund-raising events have been held, and various community out-reach programs have been supported.
The future of the museum is promising as community members continue to support the vision of having a family-oriented, kid friendly venue to educate and entertain those living in and visiting Southeast Idaho. Our mission is to awaken children’s natural curiosity about the world through interactive exhibits, opportunities and programs.
Our vision is to provide a STEM educational atmosphere with a dedicated teen zone, after school programs, occupational therapy hours, homeschool resources, STEM preschool and playspace where families can spend their time exploring, inventing and learning.”
