Students who are home schooled have an opportunity to show off their artistic talent, and possibly win a cash prize anywhere from $50 to $500.
The contest, sponsored by the Home School Legal Defense Association (HSLDA), asks students to submit up to two entries based on specified periods in art history. Students age 7 through 10 are asked to submit art with characteristics of the Cubist period, age 11 to 14 the Rococo period, and those 15 to 19 the Impressionistic period.
There is a $15 fee per regular entry, discounted to $10 per entry for students from HSLDA member households. Proceeds from the contest are to benefit HSLDA’s charitable program, HSLDA Compassion, through which HSLDA provides low-income homeschooling families with grants, scholarships, and other educational and legal resources to help them continue homeschooling in hard times.
