On February 27, 1996, Pocket Monsters: Red and Green were released.  Thus began the Pokémon phenomenon, and the reason that National Pokémon Day is celebrated on February 27 each year.

To celebrate Pokémon day, Pokémon go is going to have an event lasting from February 25th to March 2nd.  During this event you will be able to catch party hat Pikachu and party hat Eevee in the wild along with their shiny forms.  You will also be able to hatch Kanto starters with party hats that can be shiny.

Two more events that are happening during this period are raid events.  Armored Mewtwo with psystrike will be available in 5 star raids.  Clone Pokémon will be debuting in Pokémon Go with Venusaur, Blastoise, and Charizard in 4 star raids.  These clone Pokémon and armored Mewtwo will be available to celebrate the first Pokémon movie.

One of the most popular places to play Pokémon Go locally is at Idaho State University. They have lots of Pokémon to catch, PokeStops, and gyms.  Come to ISU to catch pokemon and join in raids to make the most out of the event!
