Pocatello Mayor Brian Blad’s monthly newsletter for March, 2020, has been posted on the City website. The newsletter can also be found at the Marshall Public Library.
The front page article on the newsletter is about the 2020 Census. Mayor Blad provides background on the Census, and explains why it is so important that residents of Pocatello and surrounding communities put in the ten minutes it takes to complete it. Blad says, “The answers you provide [on the Census form] help determine how much funding federal programs utilized by you, your friends and your neighbors get each year. In Bannock County, that amounts to over $2,200 per person per year according to a George Washington University study. This money helps our schools, builds roads, provides health care, assists small businesses and much, much more.”
Blad also notes that the answers from the Census help us economically, as businesses use Census data when deciding where to locate.
Mayor Blad also discusses the 2020 Portneuf Valley Environmental Fair, coming to Caldwell Park April 18 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
