Both Walmart and WinCo have set Seniors Only shopping hours in order to help ensure that the senior population, one of the most vulnerable to the coronavirus, is afforded additional safety when they venture out to replenish household supplies and groceries.

An email sent by Walmart to customers states:

Coronavirus (COVID-19) response update

To better support customers age 60 and up, our stores will host a special shopping hour from 6 am to 7 am every Tuesday, Mar. 24 through Apr. 28. It will start one hour before stores open to the public, and pharmacies will be available during this time, as well. Vision centers will also be open to help with emergency and essential needs only.

A notice on the WinCo website reads:

Senior Hours & Employees, Tuesdays & Thursdays

Effective the week of March 21st, 2020, WinCo will offer a temporary special shopping hour for Seniors (60+), Vulnerable Populations and WinCo Employee Owners from 6AM to 7:30AM on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Please observe social distancing guidelines.

In areas with local guidelines for senior access, local mandates override listed hours. Employee access is intended to help our local Employee Owners that are working long hours to keep the doors to your store open. Thank you for your understanding.
