Pocatello’s Senior Activity Center (Center) is continuing to provide local seniors with nutritious meals every Tuesday through Friday.  While the Center itself is closed due to the coronavirus pandemic, a drive-thru lunch service has been instituted.  Lunches are available for pickup between 11:30 a.m. and 1:00 p.m.

Center staff are currently serving between 70 and 80 meals per day.  Center Director Anita Valladolid and Reno Torres prepare the meals, along with George and Elsie Oyama and Joe Zavala.  The meals are bagged and ready to go, and when seniors drive up they are placed on a cart that is rolled up to the car by Office Staff Member Marty Riedle and Andy Guera.  By using the rolling cart, social distancing is maintained.

Besides the drive-thru service, two volunteers, Lorna Stacey and Patty Harbor are delivering meals to seniors.  Other volunteers working to ensure seniors are provided with the meal service are Joyce Pinkerton and Janet Spicer.  All the volunteers assist with cleanup at the end of the daily operation.

To learn more about the drive-thru meal service or to obtain pick up instructions, seniors are encouraged to call (208) 233-1212.  To learn more about the Center, visit their website: http://www.pocatelloseniorcenter.com/index.html
