The Pocatello Police Department has released the following Critical Incident Report:
At approximately 4:30 p.m., officers were dispatched to the 1200 block of East Maple St. for a report of a residential burglary. The homeowner stated that the suspect, a male in his 20s, went into the garage of the residence and took two firearms. The homeowner confronted the suspect and the suspect threatened the homeowner with a firearm. The suspect then fled with the firearms and was determined to be an ongoing threat to neighborhood.
At approximately 8:30 p.m., while officers were investigating the earlier incident, officers received information the suspect, identified as a 28-year-old male, was in the 1500 block of Pocatello Creek Road. The suspect was confronted by officers and in the ensuing confrontation, officers fired their weapons. Once officers determined there was no longer an ongoing threat, they secured the area, rendered first aid to the suspect, and requested emergency medical services personnel respond to the scene. Emergency medical services personnel transported the suspect to Portneuf Medical Center for treatment. His condition is unknown at this time.
The incident is under investigation by the East Idaho Critical Incident Task Force led by the Bonneville County Sherriff’s Office.
There are no further risks to residents.
