Pocatello’s AMVETS chapter, AMVETS Idaho Post 1, has announced they will be sponsoring a Veteran Town Hall on Tuesday, October 13. The meeting, featuring Idaho Senator Jim Risch, Chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, will be held from 3:30 pm to 4:30 pm at the Bannock County Veteran Memorial Building, 300 N. Johnson Avenue Pocatello, ID 83204.
According to Lance Kolbet, Commander, AMVETS Idaho Post 1, “THIS IS NOT A FUNDRAISER or POLITICAL EVENT. This is an opportunity to have real facetime with Senator Risch to address issues that surround the veteran community. We expect civility at this event as we already know the political climate is already too divisive.
If you are a veteran, spouse of veteran, children of veterans, or connected to this community that services veterans, we would welcome you to come. Light refreshments will be provided. This is a first come RSVP event. We need a somewhat accurate headcount.
Our U.S. Senator will speak to issues mostly at the federal level. There will be some time to ask questions of the Senator, and he will be given time to give an update on what is happening at the national level. If you would like to follow the most recent issues impacting our veteran community you can find out more here:
Pay close attention to legislation and items that are germane to the U.S. Senate. I hope to see you this Tuesday!”
Those wishing to attend should RSVP to: Chris Riley at (208) 220-4929.
Participants are asked to bring facemasks to wear while attending the event.
