According to a McLaughlin & Associates poll of 800 voters taken in battleground states (Arizona, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Iowa, Maine, Michigan, Minnesota, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Mexico, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Texas, Virginia, and Wisconsin) from January 10-11, 2021, impeaching President Trump a second time is very unpopular with Americans.
Per a memo written by John McLaughlin, almost 75% of Americans, “agree that efforts by Pelosi and the Democrats to try to impeach the President after Joe Biden is sworn in would be politically motivated to prevent the president from running again, stripping his Secret Service protection, and preventing him from having a Presidential Library.” 60% of respondents said that the impeachment effort is a waste of time.
In bad news for the Republicans supporting impeachment, 80% of Trump voters and 76% of Republicans stated that they were less likely to vote for any member of Congress voting in favor of impeachment.
