Members of three local organizations participated today in a ceremony to respectfully retire worn and tattered American flags.
The U. S. Flag Code states, “The Flag, when it is no longer a fitting emblem of display, should be destroyed in a dignified way, preferably by burning.”
At 2:00 this afternoon patriotic local citizens watched as members of Pocatello’s POW*MIA Awareness Association, the Pocatello Composite Squadron of the Civil Air Patrol, and the North Bannock Fire Department joined together in a ceremony to retire 54 worn and tattered American flags that had been gathered from members of the community.
