The Pocatello Police Department is taking applications for its Citizen Police Academy. The seven-week course will teach 30 residents about crime scene investigations, evidence collection, patrol procedures, police driving techniques, firearms training, and much more.
Classes start May 4 and wrap up June 22. The classes are held Tuesday evenings from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Two optional classes will be held Saturday, May 29, from 9 a.m. to noon and Saturday, June 19, from 9 a.m. to noon. A graduation ceremony will be at the end of the last class on June 22.
Citizen Police Academy students are selected through an application process and will undergo a background check. The deadline to apply is Monday, April 12, at 5:00pm. Those interested in the academy can apply online at pocatello.us/612/Citizen-Police-Academy. Written applications can also be submitted to the Department at 911 North 7th Avenue or by mail to the Pocatello Police Department, P.O. Box 2877, Pocatello, ID 83206.
