(Outdoor Recreation Program, June 4, 2022)
Inflatable paddle boarding is much easier to learn than you think. The equipment is affordable, easy to transport and easy to store. Pocatello’s Outdoor Recreation Program is offering a three-part class to help participants better understand the benefits, limitations, uses and skills necessary for inflatable paddle boarding.
Each class is half instructional and half practical application on the water. This will be a starter course to more education–an appetizer, not a meal. Instructions to each location will be given to participants via email.
- Part 1 is a flat-water experience with equipment and paddle basics held at the Wellness Complex. Skills include assorted paddle strokes, getting on and off and equipment selection.
- Part 2 is moving water fundamentals on an easier stretch of water. Skills include eddy hopping, ferries, and more. Location: TBA depending on flow.
- Part 3 is held on faster moving water and includes obstacle avoidance and running small rapids. Location: TBA depending on flow.
Class sessions will be held on July 12, July 19, and July 26. The fee for this class is $10 per session. To register, go to register.pocatello.us.
