(Pocatello for Accountable Government Entities, May 18, 2023)
Once a year for three years, a representative of P.A.G.E. requested the Pocatello Development Authority (PDA) audio record their meetings to improve transparency. Their meetings are held on the 3rd Wednesday of each month at 11 a.m. at a time that most citizens cannot attend. All three of those requests (the last one delivered in person versus by email) have gone completely unanswered by every member of the PDA and its officers- not even a denial of the request – the requests were simply ignored. Due to their refusal to be transparent, we audio recorded each meeting for archival purposes, however the recordings aren’t the highest quality and audio files are not a FB friendly format.
We now intend to provide a video of each month’s PDA meeting to improve transparency of this entity as the PDA Board (2/3 of the membership are appointed volunteers) currently oversee approximately $3.3M in taxpayer funds.
We encourage citizens to take time to view these meetings. Most meetings, on average, last about 30-40 minutes.
This video is the 05/17/23 Pocatello Development Authority meeting. A majority of the meeting was discussion about investment options to address the PDA’s custodial risk of their uninsured deposits – an issue brought to light in their most recent audit. No investment decisions were made at this meeting.
