Pocatello–The Gate City’s newest club for teens, the Christ and Culture Club, held its inaugural meeting and launch party last Friday evening. A dozen teens gathered at The Purpose Center on Main Street for fellowship, refreshments, and a challenge by local Army veteran David Worley.

Worley’s message to the young people was simple: In a world that is becoming more and more antagonistic toward traditional moral and religious beliefs, those who value their faith will need more strength and courage to retain it. Worley challenged the teens to do two things: find out what the Bible teaches about Jesus, and commit to living their faith. He explained that they can expect to make mistakes along the way, but stressed that their mistakes do not need to become their identity. Worley ended his talk by answering questions from the teens and telling a few stories from his time in the Middle East.
After the meeting, Worley treated the teens to a round of laser tag at Outer Limits Fun Zone.
TurningPoint USA’s local Homeschool Hub had patriotic shirts and buttons available at the event. Club founder Daniel Harrington credited TPUSA’s leader, Forrest Morgan, with part of the success of his event. “Without his help, my first club meeting wouldn’t have been possible,” said Harrington.
Former Representative Karey Hanks will speak at the next Christ and Culture Club meeting, which will be held at The Purpose Building at 6:00 p.m. on Monday, June 19.
