Fittingly, the most recent edition of the IFF’s ‘Pride in America’ series pays homage to the man whose most famous words encapsulate the Spirit of ’76.  This man is none other than Patrick Henry, and the phrase, of course, is “Give me liberty, or give me death!”

Author Ryan Claassen’s article traces Patrick Henry’s political career in the years prior to the American Revolution, highlighting the key role Henry’s eloquent speeches played in inspiring the colonies to seek independence from Britain.  In closing, Claassen states, “America needs more inspiring voices that hold government accountable and inspire those around them. Henry deserves to be recognized for being one of those voices when it was needed most.”

The ‘Pride in America’ series is the Idaho Freedom Foundation’s month-long celebration of  individuals “who ha[ve] demonstrated and defended American values.”  Since June 1, the series has recognized people as diverse as explorer Davy Crockett, entrepreneur Elon Musk, saleswoman Nancy Green, and athlete Riley Gaines.
