Pocatello, ID–The winners of this year’s AMVETS Americanism Contest, sponsored by AMVETS Post 1, were honored at a luncheon held at Mountain Valley Baptist Church last Saturday.

Some of the participants in the AMVETS Americanism contest

AMVETS is unique in holding patriotic contests for students in all grades, K through 12.  There are different categories, each appropriate to the student’s grade level.  The 2023 contest theme was “What Does Freedom Look Like?”  Students in Grades 2-5 created a poster based on that theme, and older students wrote an essay.  Kindergarteners and 1st Grade students colored a picture of the American flag and answered four questions about it.
