Winners of 2023 AMVETS Americanism Contest Honored at Luncheon Ceremony

Pocatello, ID–The winners of this year’s AMVETS Americanism Contest, sponsored by AMVETS Post 1, were honored at a luncheon held at Mountain Valley Baptist Church last Saturday.

AMVETS is unique in holding patriotic contests for students in all grades, K through 12.  There are different categories, each appropriate to the student’s grade level.  The 2023 contest theme was “What Does Freedom Look Like?”  Students in Grades 2-5 created a poster based on that theme, and older students wrote an essay.  Kindergarteners and 1st Grade students colored a picture of the American flag and answered four questions about it.

The winning entries were sent to the AMVETS National Americanism contest.  Their creators are:

Each student received a cash prize, presented by Oliver AhMu of the Sons of AMVETS.  This year’s prize sponsors included the AMVETS Auxiliary; Sons of AMVETS; Anita Valladolid; John Crowder, publisher of the Pocatello Chubbuck Observer; Jess Davies and Oliver AhMu of Premier Mortgage; and Heritage Baptist Academy.
