The Idaho Department of Fish and Game is seeking comments on its newly updated Draft Snake River White Sturgeon Management Plan 2023-2032. This revised plan will guide White Sturgeon management and conservation priorities throughout the Snake River during the next 10 years.

The updated plan includes new information on Snake River White Sturgeon regarding:

  • Population assessments, abundance objectives, and future work by river reach
  • Information on threats to populations
  • Proposed fishery management and conservation strategies
  • Conservation aquaculture program and stocking goals

Review the draft plan and submit comments here by September 24th at 6 p.m. MDT.

The final draft of the plan will be presented for the Commission’s consideration at their November 2023 meeting.

We encourage anglers to:

  • Review the draft plan, and provide feedback in the comments form below
  • Watch the video summarizing the plan
  • Attend the live virtual open house

Virtual Open House

Fish and Game will be conducting a VIRTUAL OPEN HOUSE to present the plan to interested members of the public August 30th at 6:30 – 7:30 p.m. MDT. The open house will include more detailed information on population surveys and management strategies in different sturgeon reaches, followed by a question-and-answer session.

Public Comment Instructions

We welcome comments for any part or all of the Draft Snake River White Sturgeon Management Plan 2023-2032. Please review the plan and acknowledge if you generally support, support with concerns, or do not support. Address items of support or concern in the “general comments” section.  We are only asking for review and comments on the draft management plan.

Referrals to specific sections or pages in the plan are very helpful.
