(City of Pocatello Press Release, October 10, 2023)

Your input is needed! The City’s Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program is gearing up for next year and is seeking public input on the CDBG Annual Plan and other affordable housing needs. The City will be holding its annual Needs Hearing on October 19, 2023, during the regularly scheduled City Council Meeting at 6 p.m., 911 North 7th Avenue.

The City announces this opportunity for organizations and citizens to comment and provide input on any housing and community development needs to further the CDBG program goals of providing decent housing, creating a suitable living environment, and expanding opportunities for low- and moderate-income persons. The City’s long-term plan for CDBG outlines goals and objectives as they relate to housing and community development needs. The Needs Hearing may address housing and community development needs, proposed activities, proposed uses of funds, and review of program performance. In addition, this feedback will inform all HUD-related projects for the City including grant applications and federally-funded projects.

Some areas of need we are looking for feedback include:

After review of the Needs, City Staff will prioritize projects that can address these areas. Recommendations will be made to City Council for their review and approval at a meeting in January and, if approved, submitted to HUD for final approval.

City Hall is accessible to persons with disabilities. Program access accommodations may be provided with two (2) days’ advance notice by contacting Skyler Beebe at sbeebe@pocatello.gov; 208.234.6248; or 5815 South 5th Avenue, Pocatello, Idaho.
