Pocatello–Former legislator Ron Nate is widely known in conservative circles for his work with the Idaho Freedom Foundation, his efforts to shed light on Boise’s economic policies, and his work to protect kids from the trans agenda. Last Monday night, he spoke in Pocatello at an unusual venue: a young people’s club that focuses on the interface between Christian values and political involvement.
The club, called Christ and Culture Club, is led by Pocatello High School graduate Daniel Harrington. Members meet monthly to eat, talk, and learn about how they can use their voices to make a positive impact on the community.
Nate pointed out that even though Idaho is widely seen as a deep red state, our freedoms are still under attack. To illustrate, he described the contrast between flying in the 70s and flying today. What changed between 1970 and 2023? 9/11, which provided a pretext for greater government control, all in the name of promoting safety. He also discussed the lead-up to the American Revolution: a series of acts known to Americans as the Intolerable Acts and to Britain as the Coercive Acts. “We need to be more God-fearing, and less government fearing,” Nate told the teens. “It falls on us to restore [our country] and defend it.”
“It’s not going to get easier,” Nate told the teens in closing. “There’s going to be fewer of you so you need to be stronger. You are the hope of restoring what was lost and preserving what we have.” He encouraged them to be tireless and diligent in their efforts, because freeing people is joyful work. “There are many more with us than with them because we have God on our side,” he said.
