(Idaho Department of Education Press Release, January 9, 2024)

Boise–Superintendent of Public Instruction Debbie Critchfield has announced the Idaho Department of Education’s top priorities for 2024 in a newly-released video created to follow Governor Brad Little’s State of the State address on Monday.

The video is available to view now on the Idaho Department of Education’s YouTube channel. Superintendent Critchfield spotlights a variety of priorities to be addressed in 2024, including:

  • Increasing student achievement in literacy and math;
  • recruiting and retaining quality educators statewide;
  • modernizing the school funding formula;
  • addressing issues of behavioral health amongst students; and
  • preparing students for life beyond the classroom.

“These five issues offer a preview of what the Idaho Department of Education will focus on in 2024,” said Critchfield. “I’d encourage anyone with a stake in Idaho’s educational communities to stay tuned as our work in these areas and others begins to take shape this year.”
