BANNOCK COUNTY, Idaho – On Monday, March 4, 2024, a jury found Brad Scott Compher, 49, guilty of felony first-degree murder for the murder of Nori Anne Jones.

“This case has been a long journey for our community and our office. We are pleased with today’s outcome and hope that this verdict may bring some sense of closure and justice to Nori’s family and our community at large,” said Bannock County Prosecutor Steve Herzog.

Jones was murdered in her Pocatello home on Sept. 27 or 28, 2004. DNA evidence and fingerprints left at the scene by Compher led to his arrest in September 2014. The break in the case is in part thanks to the assistance of an investigative television series, Cold Justice.

One of the biggest challenges facing this case was the amount of time between the murder, arrest, and trial. Many witnesses for the prosecution were asked to come out of retirement to testify to their part in the investigation.

“We want to thank Pocatello Police, Idaho State Police Region 5, Idaho State Police Forensic Services, the Bannock County Sheriff’s Office, the Pocatello Fire Department, the FBI, and the Cold Justice investigators for their diligent efforts to close this case,” Herzog said.

Compher is scheduled for sentencing on April 30 at 9:30 a.m. The maximum penalty for first degree murder is life in prison.
