Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle resigned on Tuesday, only one day after she was grilled in Congressional hearings over the incredible failures that continue to come to light at a Trump rally where an attempted assassin managed to wound former President Trump, and other attendees and kill one attendee.

In an email sent to staff, she said, “I take full responsibility for the security lapse.”  She went on to say, “In light of recent events, it is with a heavy heart that I have made the difficult decision to step down as your director.”

Secret Service Deputy Director Ronald Rowe will temporarily fill the Director’s position until a permanent replacement is named.
