Clean Sweep: Republicans Win Every Contested Race in Bannock County

From the White House to the State House to the County Courthouse, Republicans won every contested race in Bannock County last night.

In national races, Bannock County voted to elect Donald J. Trump as the 47th U.S. President with 60.87% of the vote over his opponent, Kamala Harris, who garnered 35.79%.  U.S. Representative Mike Simpson was returned to Washington with 59.41% of the vote, while his Democrat opponent, David Roth, received 32.08%.

Contested races for the Idaho legislature also went to Republicans. Bannock County chose:

District 28

Senator Jim Guthrie, 72.86% over Russell Matter, 27.14%

Representative Dan Garner, 70.71% over Jason Meline, 29.29%

District 35

Senator Mark Harris, 80.6% over Chris Riley, 19.4%

Representative Kevin Andrus, 81.2% over Joseph Messerly, 18.8%

Representative Joshua Wheeler, 79% over Maggie Shaw, 21%

District 29

Representative Dustin Manwaring, 55.21% over Mary Shea, 44.79%

Also elected in District 29 was Tanya Burgoyne, a first-time candidate, who received 52.61% of the vote and defeated incumbent Representative Nate Roberts who had 47.39%.

County Races

In the District 3 County Commissioner race, Ken Bullock won with 63.17% of the vote against Tamara Code, 36.83%.

The Bannock County Prosecutor race was won by Ian Johnson, 61.14%, over Jennifer Call who had 38.86%.
