Today, Monday, December 16, the members of Patriots for Liberty & Constitution will be discussing Federalist Paper 41.
The group meets starting at 6:30 p.m. on Monday evenings at Mountain Valley Baptist Church, 202 S. 7th Avenue in Pocatello.
The event notes read:
In Federalist 41, Madison is beginning to explain the specific areas that Congress is empowered to spend money on. This is one of the most important Federalist papers for those who wonder how federal spending got so huge and why the U.S. has so much debt. Madison actually makes the arguments as to why Congress is NOT empowered to spend on everything. He begins his discussion about national defense, but concludes with a rebuke to those who mistakenly interpret the Constitution as giving the federal government power to tax and spend on everything.
