The State of the State
More Nanny State B$
By: Idaho Senator Christy Zito

Nanny State talking points on full display
Governor Brad Little delivered his State of The State Address yesterday. I heard the same nanny state talking points that continue to drain our wallets, constrain our children to cookie-cutter education, and ensure crony government capitalism continues in full force.
Instead of a speech about bringing sanity back to the budget, he decided to go the opposite direction. He spent most of the speech on how he intends to spend YOUR MONEY instead of delivering REAL tax relief.
Through the last five years, the state appropriation budget has increased 55%.
Instead of recommending REAL tax relief to the people of Idaho, he discussed a vague 100 million tax relief plan (approximately $45 per person) without detailing how this would be accomplished. Who will be the benefactor of his tax relief plan? The hardworking forgotten men and women of this state, or like the board of the launch program, are those who donate to his political PAC?
2015 when running for office, Brad Little included grocery tax elimination in his platform. 10 YEARS LATER, Governor Brad Little has ignored his “promise made” to the people of Idaho.
It is clear from his address that Governor Little REJECTS real school choice, seeking to gaslight Idahoans and placate the industrial government education system. His current plan is a redistribution of wealth system in the guise of school choice, not trusting parents in Idaho to know what is best for their children. He is again showing that he does not trust you with your money.
Parents of ALL children of Idaho should be in control of their children’s education and parental school choice, not nanny state school choice.
The Governor gave NO MENTION of support for the removal of illegals from ALL State benefits. During the last session (HB 615) would have done this; however, it failed in committee. If Governor Little is serious about supporting President Trump’s agenda on illegals, this would have been brought up.
It takes more than mentions on X and references to social media hyperbole. Do you feel less regulated today than you did four years ago? My contact with Idahoans would indicate that you do not!
As Representative David Levavitt (LD25) so eloquently stated it:
” We must recognize that to act as though one is empowering others while simultaneously stripping away their agency is the very essence of oppression. It is a hollow pretense that disguises control as freedom, leaving individuals without the autonomy to shape their own lives.”
Is there good news?
YES! I hear you, and a group of freedom-loving legislators like me are ready to make a difference:
I support the REPEAL of the Tax on Groceries.
I support REAL Tax relief.
I support REAL School Choice for ALL CHILDREN.
I support eliminating all State benefits for ILLEGALS.
Ask your legislator directly; this is your government; take control, be the change, and make a difference.

May God hold you and your loved ones in His hand.
