Looking Ahead: Highlights from the 2025 IACRC Elections Conference

This month, our office had the honor of welcoming the county clerks to the annual Idaho Association of Recorders and Clerks (IACRC) Elections Conference in Boise. Following a big presidential election, this conference, organized by our office and the Idaho’s Association of Recorders and Clerks, provided an invaluable opportunity to come together, look back on our successes, share lessons learned, and prepare for the important elections ahead in 2025.
The hard work of Idaho’s county clerks during the 2024 General Election was nothing short of extraordinary and the true value of the IACRC Elections Conference lies in the collaboration among clerks. Through breakout sessions on election security, voter roll maintenance, and accessibility at the polls, their dedication and expertise were on full display. This collective effort not only strengthens our processes but also ensures we continue to uphold the highest standards for Idaho’s elections.
The conference featured several informative panels where attendees had the chance to exchange ideas and ask questions. Topics included a debrief on the 2024 General Election, a legislative panel with Senator Treg Bernt and Representative Heather Scott, and insights from city clerks as we approach the 2024 municipal elections.
There were many training opportunities available to attendees. Participants learned about handwriting verification, election systems and software, and the importance of transparent elections as part of an ongoing election certification program.
Beyond the sessions and panels, one of the best parts of this conference was seeing clerks connect, recharge, and support each other.
As we look ahead, I want to express my gratitude to each of Idaho’s county clerks. Their hard work, attention to detail, and commitment to their communities make our elections possible. Thank you for everything you do to ensure voters can have confidence in Idaho’s elections.
