Pocatello, ID – Idaho State University’s elite Robotics and Electronics SkillsUSA team is
headed to Atlanta next week to compete at the SkillsUSA National Leadership and Skills Conference (NLSC). The team will be defending their national championship title in Electronics Technology and competing for the first time for the national title in Related Technical Math.

These students, part of ISU’s renowned Robotics and Communications Systems Engineering Technology program, have earned top honors at the Idaho State SkillsUSA Championships, demonstrating excellence in circuit design, troubleshooting, and applied mathematics.

“Our students have worked tirelessly to prepare for this level of competition,” said Brody Holyoak, instructor and club advisor. “We’re proud to return as national champions in electronics, and we’re aiming to expand that success into the math category this year.”

The Related Technical Math competition tests students’ real-world math problem-solving skills—critical in today’s advanced manufacturing and engineering careers. Meanwhile, Electronics Technology challenges include schematic analysis, soldering, component testing, and troubleshooting under time pressure.

The team will compete against the best technical students in the nation at the Georgia World Congress Center from June 24–28, 2025.

News Channel 8 recently featured the team’s journey and preparations in a special report, highlighting the significance of this achievement not just for ISU, but for Idaho’s commitment to career and technical education. View the full segment here:
