The Sun Still Shines on Freedom’s Fight
Honoring Charlie Kirk’s Legacy, Continuing the Mission
By: Idaho Dist. 24 State Senator Glenneda Zuiderveld

1st Charlie Kirk, Our loss is heaven’s gain.
I sit here in the upper room above my garage, the place I call my war room. My heart is heavy, broken, and yes, even angry. Yet in the middle of it all, I’m overwhelmed with hope. As we witnessed the shooting of Charlie Kirk and the stabbing of Iryna Zarutska, we must wake up and see the times we’re living in. Evil is real. Complacency is killing us. Fear and laziness are keeping too many on the sidelines. It’s time to rise up and fight for the freedoms and liberties others gave their lives, fortunes, and sacred honor to secure. And now, we can add Charlie Kirk to that list.
We should honor his life and learn from his example. He spoke unpopular truth to the masses because his love was greater than his fear. What a legacy, to leave not only to his wife and children, but to all of us. A legacy of courage, wisdom, and steadfastness. And he did it all in just 31 short years. You can accomplish much in life when Jesus is at the center, just as He was only 33 when He gave up His life for ours.
What next?
As it is shared in Ecclesiastes 3: 1-8
There Is A Time For Everything Under Heaven
3 For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven:
2 a time to be born, and a time to die;
a time to plant, and a time to pluck up what is planted;
3 a time to kill, and a time to heal;
a time to break down, and a time to build up;
4 a time to weep, and a time to laugh;
a time to mourn, and a time to dance;
5 a time to cast away stones, and a time to gather stones together;
a time to embrace, and a time to refrain from embracing;
6 a time to seek, and a time to lose;
a time to keep, and a time to cast away;
7 a time to tear, and a time to sew;
a time to keep silence, and a time to speak;
8 a time to love, and a time to hate;
a time for war, and a time for peace.
We are now in a season of weeping, mourning, and yes, even hating. But there will come a time for healing, a time for building up, a time for speaking out, and yes, even a time for war. For now, I choose to reflect on and celebrate Charlie’s life and accomplishments. Then, I plan to Charlie Mike (Continue Mission). Those words now carry a deeper weight for me. Charlie would want us to press on: to keep speaking truth, to keep fighting for freedom, and to secure liberty for the next generation.
But it’s not enough to fight, we must also give the next generation HOPE. Without hope, there is no courage to stand against the evil principalities that wage war against us. We must remember the charge of 1 Peter 3:15: “But in your hearts honor Christ the Lord as holy, always being prepared to make a defense to anyone who asks you for a reason for the hope that is in you; yet do it with gentleness and respect.”
History is filled with those whose lives were cut short because they were bright lights of hope, like Charlie Kirk and Sophie Scholl, executed for her courage to stand up for truth. Her last words still echo: “Die Sonne scheint noch”~“The sun still shines.”
My dear friends, the sun still shines. And because it shines, we must continue the fight, for hope, for freedom, and for liberty.
