Pocatello voters sent a clear message last night: they want new leadership in the mayor’s office.
Pocatello Mayor Brian Blad suffered a decisive defeat in Tuesday’s municipal election. With all precincts reporting, the incumbent mayor received only 1830 votes, 14.3% of the votes cast.
Challenger Mark Dahlquist led the crowded field of seven running for the mayor’s office with 5135 votes, 40.2% of the total. He’ll face Greg Cates, who received 3939 votes, 30.8%, in a runoff election to be held on December 2.
Other candidates and the votes they received were:
Steve Brown, 1485 votes, 11.6%
Alana Leonhardy, 214 votes, 1.7%
Nate Kessel, 123 votes, 1%
Idaho Lorax, 47 votes, 0.4%
