(Pocatello/Chubbuck School District 25 Press Release, January 13, 2026)

POCATELLO, IDAHO— For learners across Pocatello/Chubbuck School District 25, the transition from high school to what comes next is filled with possibility—and financial questions. Thanks to the SD25 Education Foundation, local learners have a meaningful opportunity to invest in their future through the Terry Perkins Educational Scholarship.

The SD25 Education Foundation is now accepting applications for the Terry Perkins Educational Scholarship for the Class of 2026. The renewable scholarship provides $3,000 per year for up to two years, for a total potential award of $6,000, to support post-high school education at an accredited two-year, four-year, or vocational institution. Scholarships may also be deferred for up to two years, allowing learners flexibility as they pursue their educational or career goals.

Since the scholarship was established in 2018, the SD25 Education Foundation has awarded 46 Terry Perkins Educational Scholarships, helping learners take confident steps toward college, career training, and long-term success.

For past recipient Kaleb Jex, the scholarship made it possible to fully engage in his college experience without the added strain of excessive work hours.

“The Terry Perkins Scholarship has had a profound impact on both my life and my family’s,” Jex said.

“With two kids in college at the same time, my parents were unable to fully support us on our educational journeys. Thanks to this scholarship, I’ve been able to accomplish great things without the added stress of working late, exhausting hours just to afford my education.

Instead, I’ve been able to give campus tours, recruit students to Idaho State University, get involved in clubs, participate in sales competitions, and build lifelong connections within our community. As a proud School District 25 graduate, I couldn’t be more thankful for the support that has helped shape me into the man I am today.”

Another recipient, Rachel Mayer, shared how the scholarship supported both her academic goals and personal well-being while pursuing a healthcare career.

“Receiving the Terry Perkins Scholarship has had a huge impact on my secondary education journey,” Mayer said. “It allowed me to reduce my work hours and dedicate more time to my studies and my personal health.

I’m a student at Idaho State University pursuing a degree in Radiographic Science, with plans to continue into the Diagnostic Sonography program. This scholarship eased my financial stress, helped me stay focused and motivated, and gave me the freedom to spend more time with my family and continue playing and coaching volleyball. I’m incredibly grateful for the investment this scholarship has made in my future.”

This year, the foundation will award:

· Two renewable $3,000 scholarships to eligible learners attending Century, Highland, and Pocatello High Schools, and

· One renewable $3,000 scholarship to an eligible learner attending New Horizon High School.

Scholarship funds will be issued in August 2026, with renewal criteria required to receive the second-year award.

About the Terry Perkins Educational Scholarship

The Terry Perkins Educational Scholarship was established in 2018 following a nearly $1.5 million gift from the Glenn Perkins Family Living Trust to the SD25 Education Foundation. The generous endowment reflects the Perkins family’s long-standing commitment to education and opportunity.

Investment earnings from the endowment support debate and music programs at Century, Highland, and Pocatello high schools, while additional annual earnings fund and sustain the Terry Perkins Educational Scholarship—creating a lasting legacy that continues to open doors for learners across District 25.
