(Chubbuck Police Department Press Release, January 26, 2026)
Last night, a silver Kia Sorento, with a 1-year-old child in the backseat, was stolen from a residence located within the City of Chubbuck.
Thankfully, approximately 10 minutes later, the vehicle was found abandoned on Hiline Rd., north of Reservation Rd., by a member of the child’s family and the child was still sound asleep in the backseat.
A police investigation was conducted and a 37-year-old adult female, Rikki Johnson, was ultimately arrested and charged with felony grand theft. Johnson was also arrested on an outstanding misdemeanor drug related warrant.
Additional charges will be reviewed by the Bannock County Prosecutor’s Office. Out of consideration for the involved family and the integrity of this on-going investigation, no further information will be released by this department at this time.
We want to thank the involved family, Bannock County Sheriff’s Office, Fort Hall Police Department, Idaho State Police, and the Pocatello Police Department for their assistance with this investigation.
