(City of Pocatello Press Release, June 9, 2026)
Families are invited to join Marshall Public Library (MPL), 113 S. Garfield Ave., for Dig Up a Good Story with special guest star Sal the Salamander Thursday, June 11, 2026, at 1 p.m.
This free, all-ages program will feature Zoo Idaho Education Curator Dan Albro and Sal the Salamander, Zoo Idaho’s Western Tiger Salamander, for an educational and interactive storytime experience followed by a hands-on craft activity. Attendees will have the opportunity to learn more about wildlife while enjoying stories, learning opportunities, and creative fun.
“The Library’s Unearth a Story summer theme is a perfect way for the community to meet Sal, our Western Tiger Salamander,” said Dan Albro, Education Curator at Zoo Idaho. “Sal is an educational animal who spends a large portion of his life under the earth. This also gives us a chance to share a really fun book, The Salamander Room, by Ann Mazer.”
“The library is delighted to host a program with Dan Albro from Zoo Idaho,” said Amy Azzouzat, Public Services Supervisor at MPL. “The program will be educational and fun, especially with Sal the Salamander helping Dan out.”
MPL offers programs and events throughout the year designed to encourage learning, creativity, and community engagement for residents of all ages.
Registration is not required. For more information about upcoming Library programs and events, visit marshallpl.org or call (208) 232-1263.
