Idaho State Police responded to three serious highway incidents in Bingham and Bannock counties yesterday.
The first incident occurred northwest of Shelley around 7:50 a.m. ISP’s press release says:
A 44-year-old male, from Shelley, was leading a horse westbound on E 1400 N when he was struck by a 2022 Toyota Camry driven by a 33-year-old male, also from Shelley. The 44-year-old pedestrian was transported via ground ambulance to a nearby hospital. Impairment is not believed to be a factor in this collision.
The roadway was blocked for approximately one hour.
The Idaho State Police was assisted by the Shelley Police Department, Bingham County Sheriff’s Office, and the Shelley-Firth Ambulance.
The next crash occurred at 3:58 p.m., on I-15 at milepost 56, near Inkom. ISP’s press release explains:
A 2019 Ram Cargo van, driven by a 37 -year-old female from Maryland, was southbound on I15. A receiver hitch came through the windshield, striking the driver.
The driver was transported by ground ambulance to a local hospital.
The Idaho State Police were assisted by the Bannock County Sheriff’s office and Bannock County EMS.
The third collision, a fatality, occurred around 5:40 p.m., on I-15 near milepost 60, just north of Inkom. ISP’s press release gives the details:
A 2011 Ford F350, driven by a 19-year-old male from Downey, Idaho, and a 2017 Peterbilt pulling a single trailer, driven by a 67-year-old male from Park City, Utah, were both traveling southbound. The Ford rear ended the Peterbilt’s trailer, and both vehicles came to rest in the right lane.
The driver of the Ford was not wearing his seatbelt and succumbed to his injuries.
The Idaho State Police was assisted by Bannock County Sheriff’s Office, Bannock County Search and Rescue, and Pocatello EMS.
The right southbound lane was closed for approximately 4 hours.
Idaho State Police is handling the investigations of these incidents.
