Dear Editor,

I’ve been involved in Republican Party politics for a long time and a lot of people have been asking for my opinion on the upcoming election.  I’m writing this letter to the editor to help answer that question for some people who want to know.

As many of you know, Pocatello’s taxes, utility fees, and building fees are way too high for a small town like ours.  The reality is that the high taxes and fees in this community are only hurting poor and middle-class people.  We really don’t have millionaires and billionaires in Pocatello.  The top 1% of income earners are just not anywhere to be found in Pocatello.  The people living in the highland high school area would be considered middle class citizens anywhere else in the country.  It’s past time for City Hall to wake up and realize that their tax and spending increases are mostly hurting poor people.  The vast majority of Pocatello citizens are living below the poverty line.  These politicians at City Hall are robbing the poor to grow the government.

If you agree with me that the City of Pocatello needs to stop raising taxes and fees on poor people, please join me in voting for David Worley for Mayor, Bill Miller, John Ruth, and Rick Cheatum for City Council.  These are the only conservative candidates on the ballot for Pocatello City Hall.  I know that these individuals can accomplish great things together for our City.

Ben Gregersen, Pocatello
