Art da Rosa officially launched his campaign for the Idaho Senate, District 28, at a campaign kickoff event held in Preston last Thursday evening. Despite the snow coming down heavily and the cold temperatures, more than forty people packed the Franklin County Annex Building to hear him speak.
The candidate was introduced by local businessman John Christensen, who said that nobody understood the Constitution and the proper role of elected officials better than da Rosa.
Holding a pamphlet from his campaign, da Rosa discussed his pledge to his constituents. He promised to:
- Honor the Constitution
- Limit Taxes and Control Spending
- Reduce Waste & Bureaucracies
- Support School Choice
- Protect our Shared Values
Having immigrated to the United States as a young man, da Rosa told the crowd about growing up in Macau, how that experience led to a desire for freedom, and how it helped him develop a love for America and the freedoms she represents.
Following his brief remarks, da Rosa took questions from the audience.
Dawn Morrell, candidate for the Idaho House in District 28, also spoke at the event. She discussed her background and beliefs and encouraged all in attendance to support da Rosa in his bid for the Idaho Senate.
