Pocatello, ID–Local residents recently launched a Facebook group, “Concerned Citizens for Pocatello Zoo Animals,” to draw attention to animal mistreatment at Zoo Idaho. In a post dated August 13, group administrator Clayton Seek explains, “This group is for those of us that have an interest in addressing the appalling conditions our zoo animals have to suffer; inadequate care and feeding, a lack of veterinary oversight, and what may be severe misallocations of funds.”
Group members have posted a variety of photos and reviews alleging animal neglect and unsanitary conditions at the zoo. Their stated intentions are to, “explore…ways to generate interest and awareness of the situation at the zoo and feel our way along towards meaningful action.”
