Pocatello–Reconnect SE Idaho, a local group whose mission is “gathering the liberty-minded, educating, and influencing our community in and with the values of freedom”, will host its next Self-Reliance class on Tuesday, October 11, at 7:00 p.m.  This month, Lynda Eggiman will be teaching about beekeeping.

Eggiman began keeping bees seven years ago, when a friend introduced her to his urban bees.  Initially, bees seemed like a good addition to the menagerie the Eggiman family had collected on their 10-acre ranch.  Now, they are part of the family.  “I fell in love with the bees,” says Lynda.  “I have two benches in front of my beehives where I can sit and ponder and wonder and love them.”

In her class, Ms. Eggiman will discuss the cost of beekeeping, the space and time required, and some amazing true stories about bees.  “We all know bees for their importance as pollinators, but the crafty bees have other talents, including math ability and facial recognition,” she explained.  She also plans to talk about the possibilities for earning extra income, and the alternative uses for bee products.

The class will be held at Mountain Valley Baptist Church, 202 S. 7th Ave, at 7:00 p.m.  The Self-Reliance classes cost $5 per person, and pre-registration is required.  To sign up, contact Reconnect Southeast Idaho at 208-572-0177 or message them on Facebook, here.
