Bannock County is offering a free day at the landfill for Pocatello, Chubbuck, and McCammon residents on Saturday, October 8.

The Bannock County website contains the following information on free days:

The Bannock County Landfill offers Free Days to residents on certain days in the summer to help residents keep our county clean and beautiful.

Restricted items which are not included in free days:

  • Chemicals – of any kind or form
  • Liquids
  • Tires
  • Batteries – of any kind
  • Appliances – fridge, freezer, a/c, water cooler, ice maker, stove, water heater, washer, dryers, etc.

Bannock County will provide communal dumpsters to residents in Arimo, Downey, Lava Hot Springs, and Inkom to dispose of their waste for free on designated days. Contact your city office for dumpster locations and hours.

Residents in Pocatello and Chubbuck can dispose of their waste at the Fort Hall Mine Landfill for free on designated days. Residents in McCammon can dispose of their waste at the McCammon Transfer Station for free on designated days.

*Note: Free Days are offered to residents only and are not available for businesses and organizations.

*Note: Hazardous waste is accepted at the Pocatello Landfill ONLY on the first Saturday of April through October from 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.

*Note: Loads must be secured.

*Note: Dump trailers with household waste are not allowed for the McCammon, Inkom, Lava, Downey, & Arimo free days. Loads must be unloaded by hand.
