Pocatello, ID–Several of the City’s Advisory Boards have current or upcoming vacancies.  These volunteer committees advise the City on a variety of special matters, ranging from historic preservation to human rights.  Board members are generally required to be 16 years of age or older, and reside in the City of Pocatello.  A complete list of the boards, the open seats, and the responsibilities of each can be seen here.

While some of the Advisory Committees can simply allow seats to remain open until filled, three of the committees have an October 21 deadline for applications to fill their vacancies.  These are the Community Development Block Grant Advisory Committee, the Golf Advisory Committee, and the Pocatello Regional Airport Commission.

According to the City’s website, the purpose of the Community Development Block Grant Advisory Committee “consists of 7 Pocatello residents, at least 51% of who must live within the designated target neighborhoods, who serve 3-year terms. The Committee’s function is to review and make recommendations to the City Council on adoption of the required Consolidation Plan (5-year housing funding priorities), annual CDBG project funding, and the City’s efforts to affirmatively further fair housing.”  This Board meets at noon on the third Tuesday of every month, in the Council Chambers at City Hall.  Applicants for this vacancy must reside in the Alameda, Bonneville or Mountain View neighborhoods.

The Golf Advisory Committee has one current vacancy.  The City’s website explains, “The Committee provides a forum in which the golf course concessionaire, the city and golfers can present and discuss concerns or proposals regarding golf course operations.”  Meetings are held at 1:00 p.m. on the second Wednesday of each month from March to October, at the Community Recreation Center at 144 Wilson Avenue.

The Pocatello Regional Airport Commission has one upcoming vacancy.  This committee advises the City on matters related to the airport, including leases and the Master Plan. Meetings are held the second Tuesday of each month at 12 noon at the Airport.
