Pocatello, ID–Local watchdog group Pocatello For Accountable Government Entities believes that SkyWest will spend their entire $800,000 subsidy before the end of 2022.  In a social media post last night, they say:
Pocatello for Accountable Government Entities: Keeping Government Accountable

P.A.G.E. obtained the most recent SkyWest Invoice for 3rd Quarter 2022.

2022 SUBSIDY COST SUMMARY:
$210,895.82 – 1st QTR
$255,955.32 – 2nd QTR
$253,777.18 – 3rd QTR
$720,628.32 – TOTAL SUBSIDY EXPENDED JAN – SEPT 2022
SUBSIDY AGREEMENT approved for up to $800,000
$800,000 – $720,628.32 = $79,371.68
REMAINING SUBSIDY for 4th QTR: $79,371.68
We will be watching for an agenda item on this subject as it appears the subsidy money will likely be expended before the end of 4th Quarter 2022. The Council may have a tough decision ahead very soon.
The City of Pocatello voted in March to pay SkyWest up to $800,000 this year in order to maintain SkyWest’s daily commercial flight from Pocatello to Salt Lake City.  P.A.G.E.’s post includes graphics detailing the amount and timing of the subsidy payments as well as the downward trend in the airline’s passenger numbers.  To see the post, click here.
