Your Bannock County Elections Office is here to provide you with a full day inside our elections process, live-streamed from start to finish.
8 a.m. is when our cameras are on and live, and we begin our day in the office by opening absentee ballots with our staff and election day volunteers who are excited to be part of the process. There are quite a few absentee ballots this year, so this process will likely take a few hours.
The camera will remain live, and you will catch all of our miscellaneous business until around 5 p.m., when we shift our focus over to counting early votes. From the minute we open the ballot can and take said ballots to our jogger, where they are stacked and flush appropriately, all the way to the use of our tabulation machine — you can watch it all happen.
Once complete, these ballots will be carried to the vault, where another camera provides 24-hour access to you, consisting of the feed streamed exclusively inside the ballot vault.
These cameras will continue streaming well after the early voting ballots are counted, even into lockdown when the polls close at 8 p.m. Then, we will start the counting process again with our polling place ballots. The camera will remain on until the following day, and when we are done entirely with the count, the filing, and applying security within our vault, that is when our lights go out and not a minute before that.
We hope you all get a chance to tune in and witness the transparency of our elections process here in Bannock County, and, most importantly, you get out and vote on Nov. 8th if you have not done so already.
Note: The live stream will be available at bannockcounty.us/elections/.
