On Monday, January 2, the group “Patriots for Liberty & Constitution” will continue discussing Alexis de Tocqueville’s ‘Democracy in America’ Book 2. The discussion will be led by Art da Rosa.
According to the event notes, “My copy of Democracy in America skipped some chapters. Chapter XV, How Religious Belief Sometimes Turns the Thoughts of Americans to Immaterial Pleasures, is actually quite deep, including the religious observance that lead to Conservatism vs Liberalism in the old days. Chapter XVIII, Why Among the Americans All Honest Callings are Considered Honourable, is regarding labor on worldly honor. Earlier this year we went over Oliver DeMille’s book, the Coming Aristocracy. Chapter XVIII covers much of the material presented by DeMille. Note, the word CALLING means a lifelong profession.”
The group meets at Mountain Valley Baptist Church, 202 S. 7th Avenue in Pocatello, from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
