On Monday, January 9, the group “Patriots for Liberty & Constitution” will continue discussing Alexis de Tocqueville’s ‘Democracy in America’ Book 2. The discussion will be led by Art da Rosa.
According to the event notes, “We had a great discussion last week on Chapter XV. This week will be having our last discussion on Democracy in America. We will cover Chapter XVIII, Why Among the Americans All Honest Callings are Considered Honourable; Chapter XIX, Why Causes Almost All Americans to Follow Industrial Callings; and Chapter XX, How an Aristocracy may be Created by Manufactures. Note that the first two chapters will be on the approach to labor, “jobs” in today’s terms. The last chapter is a warning. These are short chapters, so read and question Tocqueville, and let’s have a discussion next Monday.”
The group meets at Mountain Valley Baptist Church, 202 S. 7th Avenue in Pocatello, from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
