Pocatello–Zoo Idaho is looking for a young person with an interest in both animal care and teaching children.  In an email released last week, the Zoo explains more about the position:

Zoo Idaho education interns will sail into Idaho wildlife informal education!  This position aims to prepare individuals for a position working as an informal environmental educator with interest in local wildlife biology and ecology.  Interns will be trained on the legal and safety issues associated with working with youth, as well as how to translate sophisticated science to youth.  They will work closely with the Education Curator in the development and delivery of lessons for K-12 informal education.  Interns will also be trained on proper husbandry techniques and animal care standards.  This is an un-paid internship for high school students.  The internship is a 20hr per week commitment June-August.  The deadline to apply is May 26, 2023.  Any interested applicants should send cover letter, resume, and essay of intent to radaniels@pocatello.gov.
