Pocatello/Chubbuck: In a pair of press releases sent out early this morning, the Idaho State Police described two local crashes which remain under investigation.
The first bulletin announces a serious crash which took place at the new highway interchange in Pocatello early Sunday morning:
Idaho State Police is investigating a serious injury crash that occurred at 1:39 a.m., on August 27, 2023, northbound Interstate 15 to Westbound Interstate 86, in Bannock County.
A 23-year-old male, of Baytown, Texas, was riding a 2008 Suzuki GSX-R600 motorcycle northbound on Interstate 15 near milepost 72. The motorcycle impacted the jersey barrier on the right shoulder at a high rate of speed and the rider was separated from the motorcycle.
The male was wearing a helmet and transported by ground ambulance to a hospital.
Traffic was blocked at the intersection for approximately one and a half hours.
This incident remains under investigation by the Idaho State Police.
The second describes a traffic fatality that occurred late Sunday night near Reservation Road in Chubbuck:
Idaho State Police is investigating a fatal crash that occurred at 11:34 p.m., August 27, 2023, at southbound US91 just south of Reservation Road, in Bannock County.
A 31-year-old female, of Jerome, was driving a 2008 Nissan Altima. The vehicle impacted a concrete wall, a telephone pole, and the vehicle rolled.
The female was not wearing a seatbelt and succumbed to her injuries on scene of the crash.
All lanes of travel were blocked for approximately four hours.
This incident remains under investigation by the Idaho State Police.
