Pocatello–This weekend offers a marathon of Holiday Events to bring the community one step closer to Christmas!

First on the list is the Senior Center’s Christmas Craft Fair, which will be held at the Senior Activity Center located at 699 E Wyeth St in Pocatello.  The event notes read: Many vendors from Southeastern Idaho will join our Christmas Craft Fair on December 9th from 10 am to 4 pm.

Also starting at 10:00 on Saturday is the FREE Annual Holiday Open House at the Bannock County Historical Museum.  The event will feature:

Live music – Kyle Bascom will be singing & playing holiday music on our Parlor organ throughout the day.

Holiday Readings – Arlen Walker will be presenting 3 nostalgic holiday readings with slides at 12:30: The Little Match Girl, A Child’s Christmas in Wales, & ‘Twas the Night Before Christmas.

Live in-gallery screening of our digitized archive photos – Digitization funding provided by BCHS, Idaho Community Foundation, Idaho State Historical Records Advisory Board, and the National Historical Publications and Records Commission.

Light Hors d’oeuvres and Refreshments – Finger foods and a few hot offerings served throughout the day.

Pocatello’s Retold Antique Shops are hosting A Charmed Holiday Event from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Saturday.  The Facebook event notes read:

Join us for A Charmed Holiday Event, Saturday, December 9th from 11a to 4p.
Visit each of the six stores that make up Pocatello’s Retold Antique Shops and receive a free heirloom necklace, and one charm per person, to make a gift for someone special this Holiday. Each shop has their own unique charms and is filled to the brim with Holiday gift ideas and decor.

Pocatello Animal Services invites you to bring your pets for a Whoville-themed photo shoot.  Their event, the Whoville Whisker Wonderland, will be held at the Pocatello Animal Shelter from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.  Their Facebook event explains:

Capture the Magic of the Season with Pet Photos with the Grinch at the Pocatello Animal Shelter!

This holiday season, we invite pet owners to capture the magic of the season with a special photo event featuring the Grinch and Cindy Lou Who Saturday, December 9, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

For a $10 donation, attendees can get a digital photo of their pets alongside classic holiday characters from Whoville. All the proceeds go to support the shelter’s mission, to provide care and find loving homes for animals in need. We are located at 3100 Avenue of the Chiefs in Pocatello.

Family Fun Toy Store, located at 1023 Yellowstone Ave Ste O in Pocatello, will be offering FREE photos with Santa from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

The Merry Manor Market will be held at the Riverwoods Event Center, at 1499 Bannock Highway, from noon until 6:00 p.m.  This event will feature:

$10 photos with Santa by Lookin Sharp Photography

Free Hot Chocolate bar, sponsored by Idahome Real estate

20+ local vendors to shop at, organized by Golden Permanent Jewelry

Come take photos with Santa, shop, and warm up with some hot chocolate! We can’t wait to see you!

For a change of pace, you can drive to Lava Hot Springs between noon and 2:00 p.m. to enjoy Swimming with Santa at the Olympic Swimming Complex & Indoor Aquatic Center, located at 195 N. Center in Lava.  The event notes read:

Nothing better than Swimming with Santa!

Join us Saturday, December 9th from noon to 2PM in Lava at the Indoor Aquatic Center.

Santa will be on hand for some unedited digital photos as well as some Marines in their Blues.

Bring in an unwrapped, new toy, valued at $5 or more and gain entry into the pool.

Teton Honda will host their First Annual Free Christmas Carnival from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.  This family-focused event will include “Free carnival games, Free Cookie decorating stations, a North Pole hot chocolate bar, face painting, Olaf photo station, and tons more! You will also get to join the big man himself , Santa Claus, and the wonderful Mrs. Claus for free photos! Mark your calendars and come let us say thank you this holiday at the Teton Honda Holiday Carnival!”

To close out the day, stop at Idaho Unlimited, located at 215 E. Cedar Street in Pocatello, to visit with local author Kirby Jonas.  He will be signing his two most recent books–Jinx and Morgan Rose–from 2:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m., and will also have his other titles available for purchase.
