(Friends of the NRA Press Release, December 11, 2023)
Often referred to as Y.E.S., the Idaho Youth Education Summit is part of a larger national program through The NRA Foundation. The state-level Youth Education Summit gives students the opportunity to develop an awareness and desire to participate in all levels of government, learn about their state’s unique heritage and history, and obtain a better understanding of how young citizens can become involved in serving their communities.
Students selected for the Idaho Youth Education Summit will spend four days in Boise visiting with political leaders and learning about their state’s history by touring museums and historical sites. In addition, students will participate in exercises such as public speaking and problem-solving, as well as firearms training at a local gun range. The gun range exercises are not competitive and inexperienced shooters are welcome. This program will be administered by certified firearms instructors.
Idaho state summit offers up to $5000 in scholarship awards. Prompt submission of application may be considered for an additional $500 scholarship. Selection is competitive and students should fully complete the application and required documents with care.
